Not going to Germany this year? How about celebrating
in Ely at the 3rd annual Christkindlesmarkt! The venue
for this market will once again be the Ely Renaissance
backdrop for the wintertime market. All of the houses
are lit and vendors line the small streets and walkways.
Beautiful ornaments are a specialty of this event and
there are sweets and baked goods and holiday gifts of
all kinds for sale. Again this year there will be fresh
greenery brought in for your holiday decorating needs!
As in previous years there will be fresh bratwurst
available and hot cider, and even a special edition of
Ely Christkindlesmarkt Beer, 2010 label and in great
demand by collectors. There will be entertainment and
even Santa Claus for the children!
As is to be expected Ely's Christkindle will arrive by
train to the Renaissance Village at 6 pm on Friday
November 26th and with her entourage she will make
the Proclamation for the opening of the 2010 Ely
Christkindlesmarkt. The market will then be open from
6PM to 9 PM. You can ride the train to and from the
village either and/or both nights for this event, check
with the Nevada Northern Railway. The market will
again be open on Saturday November 27th from 4 PM
to 8 PM and then not again until next year.
This year our local merchants have joined in the fun by
distributing “keys” to visitors at the Christkindlesmarkt.
These “keys” then should be taken to the participating
stores and businesses in Ely during the holiday
season. Winning keys will receive a surprise!
What a great way to support both our local merchants
and our local vendors! Come on out and join us for
some fun and start the holiday season with your friends
around you and a proclamation made by Ely's very own
Christkindle reminding us all of the true spirit of the
holidays.
